Posted on: July 7th, 2016 by Katie Fitzpatrick No Comments

Here at Essential Print Services we are delighted to announce the arrival of a new Print Angel.

Introducing… Katie Fitzpatrick!

“My new role as a Print Angel has been exciting, diverse and fast-paced to say the least. Even before I started, I joined the team in the Colour Blast Run on Darley Park – it was a great, informal way of meeting my fellow Print Angels. There is so much going on in our little office, which makes working here exciting and definitely keeps you on your toes. I have a love for printed products, so I feel very lucky to be working with new products and varied customers on a daily basis.” commented Katie.

To keep Katie and our Print Angels happy, we need to feed them with lovely printing jobs.

“There’s nothing we enjoy more than to help you with your print enquiries. For printing ideas or quote requests, chat to us online, or call 01332 418377 and we’ll do the rest!” said Katie.

Here’s some fun facts about Katie:

Would you bungee jump?
Yes! I have already done one and despite my fear of heights, it was amazing!

What’s the first thing you notice about people?
Their eyes. I think they reveal a lot.

What was the last ‘tune’ you bought?
I don’t really buy songs, I just listen to the radio a lot.

Who’s your hero?
I love Dwayne ‘the rock’ Johnson!

What’s your favourite food?
I love a slice of cake with a good cup of coffee! It makes me happy just thinking about it!

Where is the furthest you have been from home?
Thailand, I have just got back actually and it was fab.

One band you would love to see live before you die?
Oh I can’t pick one- Beyonce, Drake and Little Mix!

What’s the least favourite thing about yourself?
I have a ‘Harry Potter scar’ in the middle of my forehead. People say they don’t notice it but I am fully aware of it!

What are your hobbies or interests?
I have just finished a short floristry course which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also enjoy discovering pretty tea shops, travelling, going to the gym and looking after my Nephew, Oliver.

What are your biggest fears?
I used to be terrified of bins. I know, weird right? But I have overcome that fear and now I’m just scared of heights.

Any pearls of wisdom?

Ramathon Victory

RamathonOn June 5th in the sweltering heat around Derby, team members; Yvonne, Jim, Laura & Simon completed the iconic 13.1m Ramathon race. They smashed their £600 target and raised £823.10 for The Maria Hanson Foundation.

The charity is self-funding, with a tiny team that is totally reliant on donations and fundraising activities. The Maria Hanson Foundation provides holidays by the seaside in Mablethorpe, which cost £200 per family. They offer families – who may have a loved one living with a life limiting condition and an uncertain future –the chance to spend time together. With a private beach hut, grocery vouchers and individual support for life limiting conditions, the focus is on ensuring that the time spent together is enjoyed and made memorable.

Yvonne said, “I have been a supporter of the Maria Hanson Foundation for many years. Maria and the team work tirelessly to help and support hundreds of individuals and their families and friends each year and I am proud to be part of a committed team”.

“On behalf of the team and the charity, I’d like to thank everyone who made a donation – it will make a big difference.”

For those of you who are friends with Yvonne on Facebook, she also recorded a live stream during the race which you can see on her page!

Fab Five

Posted on: July 6th, 2016 by Katie Fitzpatrick No Comments

Over in the Essential Print Services office it is all about Summer. The weather might not be exactly up to scratch but we are not letting that dampen our spirits.

With summer comes sports and what a packed season it is; who’s watching the Euros final tonight (good luck Wales)? What about the Wimbledon final on Sunday? The Rio Olympics is just under a month away – how time flies.

Hopefully seeing our athletes inspires you to get active. So, we’re going to be pro-active ourselves and share some new products with you!

Last month we had the ‘fab four’ – this month we have upped our game with a ‘fab five’:

1. Golf Balls& Brollies – Do you have a corporate golfing event and want to impress with those small finishing touches? Let your client take away a great souvenir such as a printed golf ball or golf fork. Get noticed and stay dry with corporate golf umbrellas – with our unpredictable weather, these products are great to offer visitors to your office throughout the year.

2. Tennis Balls – Gain the ‘advantage’ with branded tennis balls. They’re sure to serve you well.

3. Footballs – Whether you’re hosting a sponsored ‘keepie-uppie’ or you’re having a kick about with colleagues in the car park, we can now offer branded footballs. Get in touch for a quote.

4. Water Bottles – If you’re hosting a series of sports events or simply want something for the desk, we’ve printed a number of different style water bottles for our clients so far this year.

5. Sports Bag It’s in the bag! Branded sports bags really do look the part and would really impress. Let us know your requirements and we can sort out a quote for you.

When its game set and match and excitement of a big event is over, who knows who may spot your printed merchandise after the event – the potential is huge!

The ball is now in your court, so get in touch on 01332 418377!

Small Business Saturday UK in Derby

Posted on: July 5th, 2016 by Yvonne Gorman No Comments

What is Small Business Saturday?

Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.

The day itself takes place on the first Saturday in December each year throughout the UK, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses. In 2016 Small Business Saturday will take place on Saturday 3rd December. We want all kinds of small businesses to get involved, so know that whether you are a family business, local shop, online business, wholesaler, business service or small manufacturer, Small Business Saturday is supporting you!

“Hello! I’m Yvonne Gorman and I own a small, local, independent business based on Pride Park called Essential Print Services. Three years ago, I was asked to represent Derby’s small business community and visit No. 10 Downing Street as part of the Small Business Saturday UK initiative. Since then, I’ve been crowned ‘Small Business Saturday UK Champion’ and I’ve made it my mission to fly the flag for Derby’s small enterprises, because I am passionate about our city!”

“Together with the support of Derby City Council, for the past two years, I have helped to organise a free event at the council house, where local, small business owners can network and learn new skills, by attending talks and free workshops. This year, will be even bigger – so save the date; Saturday 3rd December. On the day, you’ll meet like-minded people who you can talk to about ideas and issues – you may even gain a new customer or two.

“There’ll be a series of meetings in the run up to the event, so everyone can get involved. They’ll be designed to get our community working together to attract more customers into our shops and offices. There’ll even be a flash mob – so stay tuned! If you would like to get in touch about Small Business Saturday or about any aspect of being a small business owner, feel free to send an email to – I’d love to hear from you.”

What next? There are three easy things you can do straight away:

1. For further news about the events happening in Derby throughout the year, join our Facebook Group;

2. Submit your business to the national Small Business Saturday UK register – its FREE & takes 5 minutes!

3. Save the date; Saturday 3rd December and join us to celebrate the amazing achievements and
diversity of Derby’s small business community.
